The trail, which leads from the Source of the Soča River to Bovec is the queen of our hiking paths. It brings us close with the soul of the river and opens the door into its intimate world, where the magic, that the river radiates, is being made. The trail is not demanding, two greater ascents by the village of Soča can be avoided by taking the main road – but it is still not easy to walk all of it through without stopping. This might also be meaningless, since it is wiser to stop and sit among the scents of resin, honey and the breezes coming off the water and slowly spinning the yarn that stops time.

The Walks of Peace was made by the institution carrying the same name, whose mission is to make all of us aware of the delusions that led the mankind to such tragic events as the Soča Front, which took place in this mountain.

The trail, which starts at the mining shaft Štoln in the village of Log pod Mangrtom and ends on the hill Mengore above Tolmin, winds through the breath-taking mountain world, past fortifications, lines of battle and outdoor war museums, whose mark left on the pristine environment can still be seen today.

The Trail leads alongside the Lepenca River up to the top of the valley of Lepena. By the confluence of Lepenca and its affluent Šumnik (where one can also decide for the steeper trail past the waterfalls of Šumnik), we encounter a true water park which is believed to radiate beneficient energy. Rocks veiled in layers of moss are covered with crystal clear water coming from beneath the peaks of mountains, which is later on joined with Lepenca. A stones throw away beside Lepenca, there is the canyon and all along the top of the valley one can experience the primordial water world, which never loses its special green colour.
